"Say Where" for the iPhone Introduces Voice-Entry to Mobile Web Sites

SAN DIEGO --(Business Wire)-- Today at DEMOfall, Dial Directions introduced Say Where(TM), the first iPhone application for voice-entry to popular Web sites for mapping, business search, and reviews. Instead of typing, iPhone users just speak any "place" - any address, business, or point of interest. Users choose the mobile site they want to launch, such as MapQuest, Traffic.com, Yelp, Yellow Pages, and more.

"Dial Directions has set a number of industry milestones with its innovative voice-entry technology for location-based services," said Chris Shipley, executive producer of the DEMO Conferences. "In a race that includes industry Goliaths, it's exciting to have Dial Directions at DEMOfall debut Say Where, beating its competitors with an industry first for the iPhone."

Say Where is powered by Dial Directions' proprietary voice-entry technology for mobile services and devices. Here's how the free Say Where application works:

-- Users speak into their iPhone and say any place they want, like "524 Broadway," "hardware store," "Delfina Pizza," or "Golden Gate Bridge"

-- Users choose a mobile site to launch

The popularity of iPhone's touch screen has demonstrated the importance of usability on mobile phones. Say Where is the next step in voice-enabled usability on the iPhone, making mobile Web usage easier, faster, and hands-free.

"While the iPhone has changed the entire mobile landscape, its 'Achilles Heel' remains the keyboard," said Greg Sterling senior analyst for Opus Research's Local Mobile Search program. "Dial Directions' impressive speech platform should further accelerate search and LBS-related lookups on the device by removing the keyboard as an obstacle."

Say Where gives iPhone users a consistent, open interface for voice-entry to mobile web content. Dial Directions will continue to expand its list of supported mobile content providers, and plans to lets users add support for personalized mobile content for Say Where.

Consumers can register at www.dialdirections.com/iphone to be notified of Say Where's availability. To see a demo video of Say Where, go to www.dialdirections.com/iphone/demo1.
