TMCnet's Online Project Management Week in Review

Happy Friday! Here at TMCnet, Friday means a recap of all the news happening right now in tech. For this edition, we’re focusing on all things online project management. Without further ado, let’s see what was reported in this space this week.

This week, TMCnet reported on a topic that is fairly important to online project management and begs the question – are you allowing it to work?

Just because a single person is a project manager doesn’t mean said person should be the one wearing all of the hats and doing all of the work. As Clarizen describes it, it’s about collaboration. A manager is there to delegate, not necessarily do, and using online project management is a great way to see to it that tasks are being delegated appropriately.

In a nutshell, online project managers should let their online project management solutions do their jobs, so in turn they themselves can do their jobs well.

In other news, a recent survey conducted by eG Innovations reveals that companies are having a tough time with performance management, or, more specifically, keeping up with it.

In virtualized IT environments, it’s difficult because of the nature of how they work. The study finds that IT operations are looking for new performance management practices and solutions to catch up with the pace of technology change.

“Virtualization and cloud technologies render the traditional, manual approach to performance management inadequate,” commented Karin Kelley, analyst, Infrastructure Software, 451 Research. “To deliver on the ROI promise, today's IT ops need to automate and accelerate the diagnosis and resolution of performance issues in dynamic and complex service environments.”

Last but not least, TMCnet took a look at online project management and how it relates to risk management.

Risk management is a massive subject in which much of the established advice is not good advice. The whole process can be really daunting.

Clarizen, a provider of online project management solutions, has invaluable information when it comes to best practices in risk management. Clarizen summarizes the various techniques when it comes to identifying risk. When it comes to online project management, managing risks is as simple as deciding what to do, when to do it, and whether enough has been done.

Project managers can put together a risk management plan for a project in a short space of time with online project management. Read the full report for detailed information.

That’s it for this week’s edition of online project management week in review. Have a great weekend!
